Brandon will share with us the recent leadership changes and future vision for the Standard Examiner.
Born in Elkhart, Indiana, Erlacher began his career as a youth carrier for The Elkhart Truth in the 1980’s. He studied at Indiana University at South Bend and then at The University of Notre Dame, where he received an MBA in 2003. He is an U.S. Navy Veteran. After leaving the service, he worked as an Intensive Case Manager for Oaklawn Mental Health Center working with juvenile delinquents and children in need of services (CHINS). Erlacher was previously employed by The Elkhart Truth serving as Publisher, General Manager, Director of Operations and in various other capacities during his sixteen-year newspaper tenure in northern Indiana.
Most recently, with consumer and business model changes continuing to threaten and disrupt the local media industry, Erlacher identified the need for an infusion of new skills and knowledge based on data science, analytics and predictive modeling. He left the publisher role to serve the family-owned company in a new role as the VP of Business Analytics and Technology for Federated Media, while simultaneously pursuing an advanced degree in Business Analytics from the University of Notre Dame. Erlacher finished classes for his second master’s degree this December and matriculate with an MSBA in January of 2016.
Brandon is married to his wife Chris and has two sons, Jack and Evan, and two step-daughters, Sydney and Kate. He enjoys the great outdoors, hiking, reading and Notre Dame football. He can often be spotted with his family experiencing nature, swimming, running or biking. Those close to him remark and poke fun of his constant use of social media, technology and his ‘phablet’. He is passionate about community and has volunteered teaching economics and journalism in many local schools and has helped non-profit organizations meet their marketing and strategic goals.
